Admission Process
Residential Services
To initiate the admission process, contact the Residential Program Director,
at 804-733-2180 or 800-215-2180, to discuss
the adolescent in need of services. In most cases a preliminary telephone review will
provide a good idea of the prospective resident's appropriateness for placement at Blandford
Manor or Cameron House. The next step is to complete an
application*
for admission. The SYSVA treatment team will review the application to evaluate the student's
needs and will make a decision on admission within 72 hours. The agency working with
the applicant will be notified of the decision.
After preliminary acceptance, a preplacement visit is scheduled for the adolescent and the
placing agency representative. This visit is a time for all parties to ask questions, gather
more information and make the final decision regarding placement. The student is admitted
after all parties agree on the course of action and all required documents are completed.
Emergency admissions cannot be made to the Residential programs.
Therapeutic Day Schools
Children ages 6-18 are referred by their home school system after being found eligible
by their team of Special Education Specialists.
Upon receiving a referral and completed
application*,
SYSVA reviews the eligibility information to determine the appropriateness of the placement
and works with the local school professionals to develop an education plan for the student.
